Community Life

We believe Christchurch is a church for the whole community and we love to welcome people to come and enjoy their time here, not just on a Sunday, but during the week too.

Thirst Café

From Tuesday 20th April, The Thirst Café will be open every Tuesday between 10 am and 12 noon. With reasonably priced, good coffee and tea, and a selection of homemade cakes, it’s a place where you can just drop in to take a break, arrange to meet old friends, or make some new ones. There is also always someone around to talk to if you just need a listening ear. Check the calendar for dates.  New for 2010 - using Christchurch laptops, we are now able to offer free internet access at the Thirst Cafe.

Mustard Seed

Exclusively for the over 60s, the popular Mustard Seed Lunch Club normally meets at 12 noon on the 4th Wednesday of each month for a good, 3-course meal costing just £4. If you would like to come to this, or know someone that would benefit from a good meal and lively company, then just ring the Church Office to book your place. Check the calendar for the dates.

Light Bite

Also exclusively for the over 60s, the Light Bite is open on the 2nd Wednesday of each month for you to drop in for a light lunch between 12 and 2 pm. There is no need to book for this – just come along and enjoy freshly made sandwiches, salads, and soups.

Bushbabies

Our very popular group for parents and carers of pre-school children is open every Monday afternoon during term time from 1 30 to 3 pm. With toys, activities and stories for the children, and a welcome cup of tea for the adults, it’s a chance to meet others with young children and make some new friends. Just come along – it costs just £1.50 per adult.

Parent Talk

It’s tough being a parent, but with a little help things can be easier, and more fun! In conjunction with Bushmead Primary School, we run a special course for parents 2 or 3 times each year. Look at our ‘Events’ for current information.

Holiday Club

Ever since the Church opened we have run a holiday club for children in school years 1-6 in the February half term. This started out with around 20 children, but we now regularly have over 100 children each morning. With music, mess, drama, crafts, games and great teaching about God, this is a very popular week, with many children returning year after year – until they are too old! Details will appear on this web-site on the ‘Events’ page in January.

Room Hire

Our Church is not just used for Church Services – many groups also meet here on a regular basis – Weightwatchers, Jo Jingles, Kumon, U3A, to name a few – as we have a selection of rooms that are available for hire for meetings, etc. We also let our foyer area for parties for children under 10 years – just give us a ring for a quote.
